Improving the tourist offer and increasing the seasonality in the villages of Lëpushë and Vermosh

The province of Kelmendi is the northernmost edge of Albania and part of the beauties of the Albanian Alps. In recent years, a number of development programs have started to be implemented in this area, aimed at improving the road and tourist infrastructure with the aim of promoting tourism. With the aim of promoting local economic development through the tourism sector as well as increasing the commitment of the local community in the villages of Lëpushë and Vermosh in the definition, development and co-management of the tourist destination, Malësi e Madhe Municipality in partnership with Assist Albania Center are implementing the project ” Improving the tourist offer and increasing the seasonality in the villages of Lëpushë and Vermosh”. The project is carried out within the framework of the Grants for Regional Development and Cohesion scheme, financed by the Swiss and Austrian governments, implemented by the Regional Development Program Albania and the Albanian Development Fund
The specific objectives of this project are:
1) Strengthening and raising the capacities of the structures responsible for tourism in the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe;
2) Extension of the tourist season including winter activities;
3) Promotion of social interaction through the organization and participation of residents in a form of partnership with the municipality and tourist operators for the management of the destination;
4) Expanding the market through the promotion of the tourist offer and local products;
5) Improvement and diversification of the existing tourist offer in the villages of Lëpushë and Vermosh by improving the infrastructure and access to 3 waterfalls:
