The public call for applications under the Grant Scheme was published on 15th of July 2021 and invited all Municipalities of the territory of Albania to apply with project ideas based on the objectives of the Grant Scheme which focused on the dimensions of regional development, encouraging institutions and partners to cooperate through inter-local projects that have a clear impact on regional development.
In the first phase of application, 55 Municipalities participated out of which 8 applied in cooperation with other Municipalities and 24 others applied in partnership with active local actors such as non-governmental organizations, local associations, businesses, etc.
The 20 best project ideas were selected to continue the competition by submitting the full application. The second phase of the application, which ended on November 15, 2021, was accompanied by capacity building activities for the staff of the selected municipalities focusing mainly on project preparation and the correct completion of the CfP formats, in order to ensure good quality of project proposals.
