Denis van Dam
Our team leader, Mr Denis van Dam, has 35 years of professional experience, of which 26 in regional, rural and local economic development. He worked in numerous projects on regional and local development, institutional and capacity building, and on partnerships between regional, local authorities and the civil society. He has significant experience in regional development, linked to EU pre- accession assistance. As a team leader, he has more than 24 years of experience for large scale, multi-annual United Nations & European Union projects, with tested leadership, diplomatic, mediation, communication and reporting skills. He has worked some 20 years with refugees, internally displaced people, returnees and in the reconstruction of war-affected areas, In terms of EU pre-accession funds, he has 15 years of experience in preparation, implementation and management of projects/ programs financed by the EU (CARDS, PHARE, SAPARD, IPA). He has advised, supported and trained national, regional and local authorities in Croatia and Turkey (on long term basis) and has worked as a short-tem expert in Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia Hercegovina and Slovakia. He is fully familiar and experienced with programming, management and implementation of IPA, and with the European programming techniques and procedures, project design, implementation, including monitoring and evaluation, with the EC’s PRAG (Practical Guide) and management of EC Grant Schemes. Finally, he has also over 15 years of experience in the field of guarantee and trust funds with the banking sector, credit, SME promotion, instruments for development support (grant schemes for SMEs) in EU pre-accession countries (Croatia, Turkey) and non EU countries (Latin America).
