The RDPA Project Final Event!

As the RDPA project is coming to its end in June 2023, on the 23rd of May, 2023, the Closing Ceremony of the Regional Development Program in Albania took place, a project financed by the Embassy of Switzerland in Albania and Austrian Development Agency , implemented in Albania by Ecorys NL and Co-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development .

This ambitious program aimed to reduce inequalities in Albania, supporting the development of stronger regions in the country, by promoting and using their potentials and comparative advantages, in order to ensure better social and economic conditions for their citizens.

We were pleased to have presented, at the final event, to the partners, main actors and key stakeholders who have played a critical role in pushing forward the regional development reform in Albania and taking important steps to shape the future of regional progress in Albania.

In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with the certainty of having fulfilled the vast majority of the original proposed objectives, the participants discussed the achievements, successes and challenges, as well as reflected on the important steps achieved and those ahead. The main messages were conveyed by the Swiss Ambassador to Albania, Mrs. Ruth Huber, the Austrian Ambassador to Albania, Mr. Christian Steiner, the Executive Director of the Fondi Shqiptar i Zhvillimit/ Albanian Development Fund , Mr. Dritan Agolli, Ms Florenca Korbi, representative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Director of Ecorys Nl Mr. Atze Verkennis and RDPA team leader, Mr. Denis Van Dam.

Recognizing the impact that the project has had on local communities through the implementation of the grant schemes and empowering the regions to continue the reform in the country, we are sincerely grateful to the Swiss and Austrian governments for their unwavering support and co-financing of RDPA in the phases III and IV.

We also express our sincere thanks to all our partners, actors and dedicated experts who have contributed and been part of this joint journey with support, passion and vision to transform the landscape of regional development in Albania.
